What Should I Do?
Whether its an emergency or not, when you are locked out of your car or home, you need to know what to do. Your first instinct in what to do when locked out is to call the authorities but instead you should first contact a locksmith who will immediately come to your location and unlock the door to your car or house for you fast. At Locksmith.com you'll find the right locksmith who can help you access your personal property when you are locked out accidentally. Forgetting the keys in the car or house, or your front door accidentally closing on you when it is locked from the other side, can often cause a feeling of panic. If you have your cell phone on you, you can call a locksmith to help open the lock for you. A key to your locked house or car is not necessary when a locksmith uses specialized tools to help open the locks. Believe it or not, quality locksmiths are surprisingly affordable. A locksmith will not charge you an exorbitant fee for coming out and opening your locks for you. But when you do have to call a locksmith to open your car or house locks, make sure it is an authentic service technician and not a fraud, who might want to enter your home or car and proceed to rob you of your valuables. If you are in a parking lot somewhere while shopping and you discover your keys are locked in your car, you can call the police or security guard (if there is one) and have him stay with your car while you contact a locksmith. Always be able to have access to a certified locksmith if you ever need to have a lock opened for you.
The cost of a locksmith (when you need one) should never be expensive. When you are locked out of your home or car in dire straits, you may panic and be stressed out even if you are able to make a call through to a locksmith who can open your locked door for you. The cost of a locksmith should be reasonable and not rip you off. Unfortunately some locksmiths can be unscrupulous in setting their prices when they find someone who is desperate to get into his or her locked car or house. The situation can be made even more desperate if a young woman is locked out of her car and she has a small child in the back seat. A locksmith that suggests drilling into the lock of a door or car may bring a feeling a wariness, and rightly so. It is very rare that a lock actually needs drilling, but if a locksmith charges a seemingly high fee after drilling a lock, then the consumer is at a financial loss. There is an average across the board charge for opening a lock that does not require drilling. Finding a reputable locksmith should not be hard though when one is needed. If the cost is about $75.00 for a locksmith to open a lock without drilling, than that is a reasonable cost. If a locksmith starts to charge several hundred dollars after drilling open a lock that did not need drilling, and add on surcharges to the bill, then the customer has been ripped off. Avoid being ripped off by the wrong locksmith when you need help in getting back into your car or home.

Sliding door locks can include a peg placed at the top of the sliding doors where the doors meet to lock them firmly in place.
